Origins

ORIGINS Winter’s shroud Urges meditation Adornment so scant only Heaven’s light to cheer the lonely In springtime though Peeping buds awaken Tiny origins thrust Ease one’s contemplation Tulips germinate Sans nature’s later flow And mind’s eye gravitates To roiling roots below Spring’s full blown riot Must pose eyeful question But a moment chime perhaps Soul’s true direction Is such splendid array A vein traveling invitation To some hidden house Of God’s creation? Alas belittling mortal speculation Winter’s origin winter’s shroud – She sleeps sleeps as needed By all of nature’s crowd Dave Austin

Daver, I think Mother Nature needs rest just as much as we do, but I still envy those who see snow in the winter. The adornment may be "scant," but in New Jersey the snow-covered landscape looked pristine. I love the poem, especially the line about the "vein traveling invitation to some hidden house." Thought provoking poetry that is beautifully descriptive as well! Love, Carolyn

Beautiful Daver. What a lovely picture you paint of early Spring. Can't wait to see the first early buds poking their heads up through the snow. God Bless, JB

This poem is magnificent Daver! I bet you can see the daffodils popping up from beneath the snow in your mind's eye already! Lovely and my last read for the night. I may have turned the coughing corner. Love, Connie ; ) 7

This is so good and though I don't say it often, is one I wish I could have written. Beguiling in form, content and message, smooth and compelling in rhyme. The final stanza is masterful.

Doggies! I sure enough do hate this here deep freeze. It's not so much the snow as the cold and the ice. One fall and I might not get up. Love ya, daver

Very, very nice. It's "spring" here - 74 today, but I know it won't last.

It's always either spring or summer in Florida, Sunlite. Do you live in the South too?
