Origin of the Species We are recycled atoms The scientists claim! From the Big Bang Imprisoned on this planet By gravity. These atoms join molecularity To give life tangibility, By separating the species With appearance. That was then And this is now, And how the species evolved; "I think?"— Darwin wrote In his journals While in the Galapagos. And yet, irony persists? The tree of life branches With no answer, As to who Planted the Seed!

Agnes Krampe's comment below is one with which I wholly agree...the "blind watchmaker" of Dawkins notwithstanding, the evolution of science (and all else) over time is, when viewed dispassionately and without preconception, unassailable. Progression from simpler to more intricate, with deviations caused by extraneous influences/events, is obvious, and retarded/affected (which is also "evolution") by any and all conditions/inputs. Interesting, no?

I'm glad you found 'food for thought' in the poem; your reply is both interesting and appreciated.

Well said Dennis, I read parts of Dawkins blind watchmaker, supposedly advanced biological proof of evolution, he said "based on luck over billions of years"(I'm paraphrasing), too many times to convince. Seems that "evolutionary science" is based on blind faith, kind of ironic eh?

The tendency is to start off with a suspicious theory and then make the facts fit with repetitious and complicated arguments.

There is no blind faith in science- except in the basic premise of all science: that humans can, in principle, KNOW. Currently there exists no competing *scientific* theory to evolution. Anything that posits an unknowable agent beyond human understanding as an explanation for natural phenomena is by definition not science. It may be possible that one day an alternative scientific theory is proposed that agrees with observations and allows predictions, and perhaps that theory will be better at explaining the gaps.
