Ordered Out of Bed
Café al Bachio, you betcha!
My husband so steamy,
his eyes so dreamy, as
his morning cause
is to order me out of bed,
(ladies and gentlemen,
you know that’s not true,
but let’s pretend)
so we leave the counter
with dollars and sense
poured into paper cups.
Oh sweet macchiato; he loves,
and the creamy latte - I should
not, so over the days cappuccino,
olay! (My darling seldom drinks
coffee, but our sheets stay warm)
A preteen picks up her order
of eight cups. Her younger brother
is warming himself with a game.
She tells him, “Jeffrey, you idiot,
get over here!” He doesn’t budge.
Where are the adults - playing
games of their own? Oh buzz!
Café Al Bachio, you betcha!
Full steam ahead! Perfection!
Ordered out of bed on the high seas.
The Caribbean rocks us awake.
