Orange Roses

on the day we met he brought me orange roses their vibrant colour matching the fire in his eyes I caress the soft petals in the center of my love's well tended garden orange roses bloom through tears I pick a bouquet to brighten his lonely grave

this is a lovely tribute, Francine. A real story? I ask because mine is an exaggerated one based on marriage. Glad to finally see this well written tanka. Congrats on your win.

This was such a pleasure to read, Francine. I don't know what you're going through, but your words gave me a glimpse of it. I've never even heard of orange roses... this surprises me. Orange is my favorite color so I'd like to see one sometime :)

Dear Francine - I am so sorry is not enough, but am grateful to read the beauty of your words to express such sadness. Mine were peach. (they were a long time coming). Thank you for writing this. love, Kathy p.s. I love a rose of any color except read. However, I'd hold them to my heart if only he could bring them now.
