Anne-Lise Andresen Poet Verse

- Options -

                                   A hotel room can be sad and old
                                   but also stylish and contemporary
                                   A room with two beds and a desk
                                     a soft chair and one hard chair
                                   Phone and The Bible in the drawer
                                      Some pictures on the wall of
                                     people or places I do not know
                                  If I open the window, it's just noise
                                     and exhaust the basis of traffic
                                      No give me one night or two
                                    in a cozy little cabin in the woods
                                  Where the bear, fox and moose live
                            And I can wake up to birds singing beautifully
                        Hi ... there is a room available for you at the hotel

Duke Beaufort February 17, 2013 at 4:29 PM I particularly like the last line and all the different ways I can think about it. Is it the welcome of the birds? Is it the welcome of the hotel you just left, or is it the voice you hear as you are checking out? Or is it our choice as to where we would go. Also, a "hotel" can be so much more--a place as part of a journey. I'm sure there are many more than escape me.
