Opening Night

There was a quiver of fear, of failure and of terror. The audience was out there, waiting like a lion, silent, eyes glittering in anticipation. A thin veil seperates us, reality and safety, two different things. Taking deep breaths, calming my very soul, flighty as it is. And then I take the plunge into the known unknown. For a moment, my heart stops; I feel completely faint. I am going to die, I know it; This entire thing was a mistake. And then I open my mouth and so begins the play.
