Open Eyes

I can show you what it is like to be invisible,
but I can't show you
what it is like
to be real,
for too long have i slipped by
under cover
and below the radar.
I have chosen the darkness as my heart,
the night as my love
and the children of shadows
as my friends
all to become something all have forgotten
that no one sees anymore
unless you can see
in the dark.
I can not show you what it is like to be alive
for I myself do not know,
it has been a long time since I lived
anything that was not from below
you do not want to learn what I have to offer,
because you are afraid of the dark
you are afraid
of me,
and what has accepted me
for who I am.
I can show you what it is like to be invisible,
but you cannot learn
from what you can't see
I can only show you
if you
open your eyes.

Madison, I think a trip on the dark side is a tantalizing idea! The idea of "go toward the light" doesn't appeal to me just now. Well written and provocative poem, Dear Lady. Love, Will
