Oops

Oops!

In our backyard five apple trees abide - harvest of red, yellow, green fruit our pride
Bushels of fruit overflow from their baskets - looks like nature this year blew a gasket.

Way too many apples for us to eat - now time to share of our ripe apples sweet
So with our neighbors we’ll divvy these treats - for lunches, pies, snacks and midmorning feasts.

Just a month later - just enough for a pie a Sunday night treat as cold raindrops fly
Measure the spices then roll out the crust - bake in the oven - dessert just for us!

Oops! Tripled the flour! Now I lament - :o - as we pick out baked apples from flour cement!

True story! Instead of 3/4c of sugar I added ¾ c of flour! At least we salvaged the apples. My boys have never let me forget this gastronomic disaster! A true lesson in humility!

Go easy on yourself, Sam. I once misread tsp as tablespoon instead of teaspoon. Easy done huh. Oh, did you ask what the ingredient was?.. er... Chilli powder! Fun poem, Sam. good luck.

Great that you salvaged the apples and a great dinner table conversation, a lesson in humility - while our children get older and wiser, we slowly become their children, we are never too old to learn - a superb poem my friend, really brilliant. Hugs and blessings, Jennifer.

I love this story, Sam. I have mistakenly doubled down on ingredients many times...but I don't believe I ever tripled them (lol) Funny, I don't ever eat an apple but I love them baked in a pie...especially with four and twenty blackbirds (lol) Hope all is well. Hugs Charlie

Hello Sam Kauffman, Your poem reminds me of the time K was baking a cake. Ihad all the ingredients out . When my neighbour came over , we were talking. Without thinking i put my cake into the oven. When it was ready , i took it out . it was watery. I forgot to add the flour. Enjoy your evening my friend.
