This poem is not against any religion or belief, it is an observation I will explain. In doing a book launch in my local community, I just happen to know many people from the local churches. Every single on of them is not only well off but most are millionaires.

When doing the launch many came by and some offered their prayers but not a single one of them offered to open their wallets and buy the book, to support a good cause. This was not like 80% didn't, or 95% didn't this was 100%. And yet I had students come buy, and many I offered them the book for free, they insisted to pay, many older poorer couple the same thing, I said I am happy to give you the book, they said no, we love what you are doing we wish to pay.

To be honest I was shocked, not that some would buy the book or not, but that it was divided along such demographics. It was like living in the twilight zone, do they not realize their own actions?

It reminded me a small quote "Your children will remember you by your actions not your words"

People who preach should first remember act with kindness, don't lecture, second don't re write history and lie, no matter who your god is I am sure he didn't tell you to lie.

Onward Christian soldiers Marching off to prayer Making sure your wallets no one at all will share Onward then, ye Christians as atheists help the poor blend you prayers with hypocrisy as the lord closes all your doors Christ may not be handicapped he sure as hell isn't blind stop playing life's lotteries give food and love, be kind At the malls small book shop Satan's hosts and Christians flee Hells foundations support not ignore poor and needy brothers pleas Onward Christian soldiers copper pennies are your reward Just remember the cross of Jesus was constructed by the poor

Real food for thought. I am a Christian, but have for many years had a problem with the rich Christians, especially rich evangelists, being as rich as they are. Liked the picures also. Thought the fence around Jeruselum was overboard and not apropos. Thanks for the write

It's the same over here, we have lots of millionaires here also those not so affluent, would be interesting to see if the rich would buy my poop in book form - could always use it as expensive loo paper lol. Been lovely to see schoolchildren doing random acts of kindness before Christmas I bet even the wealthy wouldn't turn down a freebie!:-) hugs Jan xx

I mentioned rich only cause they could have bought 1000 books and it would have meant nothing to them, it wasnt only them, all those preaching so to speak, rich or poor. Where as many who showed their values by actions, not words ( rich too ) bought. It only was amazing to me that at this time of year it was 100% so.

Your observations do not surprise me. In my own experience as a bikecourier I can tell you, the poor tip far more (more and more often) than the rich; it is just human nature I suppose... one would think such religious virtue would, lend to more generosity. Great poem, great conversation. And Happy New Year Arthur! xomo :)

Hi Maureen, well in this case, the rich and poor bought the book, the ones not so concerned with rushing to church! LOL
