Have you ever been lonely??

A melody can heal a heart Or...make one fall apart Every time it starts to play... And tonight...when they walked in A brand new love song began And it turned out to be both ways They're slow dancing... Swaying to the music I had my chances... But I let them pass me by Now step by step... I'm left behind As their love comes alive And her thoughts of me... Slowly die.... One song at a time She whispers.... in his ear Words I'd dearly love to hear As they circle on the floor Two bodies become one Another sits here all alone..... And the DJ plays one more.... They're slow dancing Swaying to the music........ Protected by copyright

Chuck, you artfully brought that story to life; we can feel the heartache as the scene unravels under our very eyes. That, my friend, is wow! A 7:) Amitiés

Chuck, you were able to convey the searing torture that can feel like the end of the world, and you did it with moving words that we can all relate to. Your first two lines empower the rest of your poem. The pain feels almost palpable. Music makes memories, sad or glad, and this poem is memorable with insightful regrets that so many of us can empathize with. Brilliant! 7 ; )

Love this one, Chuck. it reminds me of a modern song about "now she's dancing with someone else" I think maybe Bruno Mars sings it? Anyway, I love that song AND your poem!
