One Goal Poetry Contest

One Only Goal Vain is life without the light of a goal Like a ship sailing in midst of the sea, Not knowing at which port its flag to roll Or at which bay to find a shelter free. Vain is life without the light of a goal As we tread our path on our journey of life Like someone stripped of the shine of his soul, Knowing not in which direction to strive. Diverse souls in life have diverging goals: Some wish to sleep on a bag of bank notes, Some for a voyage to Mars to enrol, Others on bed of the blue sea to float. Many wish top of the ladder to reach, Bask in the sunshine of material bliss, Caring not any fig their self to breach Or to hurl down their friends in an abyss. In the voyage of life, one only goal, The supreme goal I cherish with a smile Is to distill and purify my soul That I am worthy to be the Lord`s child. To reach this goal, I am ever ready To shower love amidst folks in dire needs, To be instruments of the Lord`s mercy To pining souls who themselves cannot feed. Love drives me to care for souls without a roof, Who cannot a square meal a day afford, Who are left on streets to perish aloof With no one for them to chant divine words. Showering love on children of the Lord Within the bounds of possibility Is serving the Lord in line with His words* And reaching out to His grace and bounty. Love is the light that clears glooms of mistrust Can restore peace amidst foes and nations Simmers like the shine of a sleek stardust And is the true seedbed of compassion. The inner self exults love for others, Irrespective of religion or race And yearns to share its light like a brother, Irrespective of caste, creed or birthplace. If we scan our inner self, what we view Is reflection of love of man for man In a little lake with hues of light blue Sparkling with the spangled shine of a friend. John 13: 34 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.”
