One Night Stand
We sought ill love to burn the light of day,
Letting embers cool and night's fair ashes stay,
To envelop desire, virtue in a young man's eye,
Burning fire-bright in an inkwell sky,
And all to drown in holy union bow'd,
Thrice regaling whilst the lady doth allow,
To die and rise with mov'd tears,
As Lazurus waking to the spheres...
But once night became the dawn,
Acteon turneth I, and I into a fawn,
To come again perhaps another night,
When ashes steal new virgin light.
