It had been snowing all night- it was bad, you were going to work but I said stay; you called me silly and I was so mad. One last tear for love. You left with a slam of the door that day, I went back to my bed but I was sad; then heard a crash in my dream of cold gray. You had always wanted to be a dad, but now my love was going far away; for somehow my heart knew that it was bad, One last tear for love. I floated to the crash to see your face, a gauzy dream girl with hair like a fan; weeping darling for a final embrace. One last tear for love. Your death had never been in our plan, this love- time will never ever erase; the police came and then my grief began. This dream girl came to your deathly cold place, I kissed your dead blue lips and held your hand; but of love and husband there was no trace. One last tear for love. _____________________________ February 3, 2019 Poetry/Roundel x 2/One Last Tear For Love Copyright Protected, ID 19-1111-723-02 All Rights Reserved. this is so heartbreaking, Constance. The emotion is very strongly felt. I wanted to see your example for your contest, which I hope eventually to do. Congrats, by the way. I am sure this one did well in the contest.

Though I'm not familiar with the form, it didn't matter, Dear Heart. The story behind this heartbreaking poem touched me deeply. And I know just what you mean when you said you "floated" to the crash site. It's like something out of a bad dream when this happens. Congratulations on your win, Carolyn

A beautiful roundel, Constance. Well done. Bravo! I so hope none of this is true, my friend, but I suspect it is bits and pieces of someone's story for there is a huge ring of truth.

Caren, thanks for visiting, sadly it is true, it is my reality except I float to the scene of the crash in my dreams at night to kiss his dead lips.
