One Day To Live

If I only had one day to live,
I think I would watch the clock.
Nothing slower in this life I live,
than watching that thing tick tock.

A minute stretches into hours,
the hours stretch into days.
Your body seems to lose it’s powers,
your mind envelops foggy haze.

I’d pin my lids open so not to doze,
reading kama sutra as I wait.
Might as well think sweet repose
as I approach my impending fate.

Then as I clearly neared the end,
my body and eyes reeking pain.
Closing my eyes, to let it begin,
as I steal a bit of peace again.

Staring at a clock would surely slow down the passage of time. I like the way you constructed this with a bit of humor, Charles. Unique approach. Best wishes in Lay's contest. Love, Carolyn
