One Day-The Day-Today'
A mid-April Monday morn;
Life began as usual in the college dorm.
Students recovering from their weekend parties,
The underachievers were razzing the resident "Smarties."
Grabbing their books and heading out to class;
Who could ever dream, This day would be their last?
Shots rang out, human beings fell;
A placid southern campus became a raging hell'
Dozens of lives abruptly ended that sad day,
So much promise, and potential, quickly blown away'
Who was prepared and who was not,
In which spiritual camp had each other cast his lot?
There's a saying today that "Life comes at you fast,"
And one day everyone one of us will become part of the past.
We are never told ahead just when that day might be,
When we will be called to step out and begin our eternity'
Jesus clearly told us, "I am the way."
He created salvation's plan-and today is the day.
To none of us is tomorrow ever guaranteed,
This is the time, right now, to take care of your spiritual need'
For it has been our sin that has kept God and us apart,
Because that is the evil nature of the human heart'
Repent of the years you've neglected Him,He will forgive you and cleanse your sin.
When you accept the free gift offered by the Lord,
Immediately, your fellowship with God will be restored.
You can experience joy and peace within your heart,
A brand new, exciting lifestyle will start.
And when you are called upon to pass through Death's waiting door,
You'll be at home with your Saviour forever more.
