One By One
its stalks the best of us
picks off the rest of us
one by one
we fall by the way
Some of us run from it
some embrace the thing
but one by one
we fall day by day
there are those that fear it
and those that seek for it
and one by one
they all will meet with it
A few will try to hide
will dedicate their lives
but one by one
it finds them
No money can save you
No power protect you
one by one
we all go the same way
don't waste time on fear
seeking money or power
one by one
we should enjoy each passing day
This thing we cannot affect
with deeds, words or dreams
one by one
death finds us all
