One Bloody Bastard

Watching episodes of The Tudors, I cringe at examples of King Henry’s pride and ruthlessness, casting off wives and devotees with ease.. . . As he gads about with a new flame, an axe falls again and again on Cromwell’s neck.

King Henry would be re elected today. Take a look at Marion Barry and most of our congress. They still do the killing, only emotionally and financially they crush the people. Vince

nice write . I watch the show as well. "Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men." quotation by John Emerich Edward Dalberg Acton, first Baron Acton (1834–1902)

Hi Andrea, I love that series, but he sure was a nasty man and wonder if they cleaned up his deeds for this series or made more of them? Who knows, I enjoyed your Etheree. Aloha, Connie P.S. Thanks for your nice comment on my African Dawn poem.

. I can’t, of course, talk for anyone else but I don’t think ‘bloody’ will cause much offence. When I was young ‘Bastard’ was not a word that was nice to hear but when I came to Australia I was surprised to find it was often a term of endearment, as in, “how ya goin’ ya old bastard?” or “ he’s a great old bastard” so my ear has become softened to it...luv margaret

Just read your sonnet, "Keeper of the Beast." I really enjoy your sonnets. You are at your best with the sonnets, don't you think so? They are very intelligent, no chewing gum and plastic tape involved. "Keeper" is wild. I am such a beast, but was leashed long ago. Love, Dave

Oh! Such a violent Etheree! Just think of being one Henry's wives. In those days they might have taken out a contract, but the dependable Mafia hadn't yet come into being. I ENJOYED THIS ETHEREE MUCHO!!! Love, Dave

You have been to Spain in 1974, I was there in 1976. And Franco died in 1975. So the Guardia Civil, the police was still the same and they hated everything supposed to be against fascism..But of course I enjoyed Códoba and Granada and not to forget Barcelona with La Sagrada Familia and Gaudí's buildings..Love, Gert

Hi Andrea Reminds me of the song (I think it was by Herman's Hermits) about Henry 8th. The poem of mine you commented on needs work. I guess I meant the Blacks - or possibly the Chinese. Anyone lets hope people can start to get along a little better. Yours in poetry Matthew Anish
