One April Day

One April day when spring was in the air, I stepped outside so I might relish it. I came upon a cherry tree so fair, beneath its limbs I was enticed to sit. I fell to sleep inhaling fragrant bliss - the vision of the tree still in my brain. I dreamed one sweet, pink petal, like a kiss, fell on my cheek, and soon there was a rain. . . A rain of lovely silken blossoms! Then they softly made a pile upon the ground. Warm wind embraced me; that’s the moment when I woke to pink resplendence all around! I gleefully shook blossoms from my hair one April day when spring was in the air. May 16, 2019

Such a beautiful picture in your sonnet. The magic of your words drew me in and I could feel the rain of "pink resplendence." In college on warm spring days I would sit under a favorite cherry tree on campus. Congratulations on your top win!

This is masterful Andrea. Usually not moved by goopy stuff. This is so well done, it rises above in my mind, to national level love poetry. Intertwining the pedal action with the rain and the sheer romance of the piece is magnificent. Not a pedestrian word or phrase felt by me as I was enthralled throughout. I guess it sounds like I liked it real good, eh?

So gorgeous in your Spring descriptions. You don't do this often in your sonnets, but I love how you used the first line as a refrain in line 14, kind of a wink to your love of kyrielles, quaterns, and such? My favorite line is "I fell to sleep inhaling fragrant bliss". A fav for this terrific sonnet ~ John

It is a good thing I love you so much because right now I hate you for being so very and amazingly talented. Now go away!, don't look at me, don't read my entry, g'way. Seriously, I felt/feel a tang of jealousy but is the good kind because my jealousy is comprised of the neverending rainbow of marvelous 'feels' your writes are capable of provoking in the reader, in me. This poem is amazing, a FAV. Love/hate you ... CayCay
