Once Upon a Face
I once wore a younger man’s smile
My hair was worn in a different shade.
And dressed in clothes of a different style.
--There was something else--
But the memories begin to fade.
Come and sit with me awhile
Pass the time along with ease
I have all these memories on file:
Files vast as the seas.
How time has flown before me!
But I cannot tell what all has changed.
I have stayed, who I have always been
But the man who gazes back at me in my reflection is different
I do not know if he has always been me
Or if it was my earlier appearance was to disappear
But do not dismay
For I have always been this way
My habits and faults
Forever until time haults
