Once Is Not Enough

One encounter is not enough
        it can create desire,
            lust,
    longing, craving.
But that isn't enough to understand your craziness,
giving me a taste of your mind,
letting me dance with your demons.

Just as a poet can't just write about an emotion
he must take his pen,
        stab it into his vein
and carve on the parchment with his feelings.

It's not good enough to say the wolf bites,
you must imbue the words
with the salty, metallic flavor of blood
that is caressing the tongue
and slowly dripping down and staining the muzzle
leaving a crimson pool in the snow.

One can't say the wolf howls
         for he serenades the moon
with his mournful dirge
singing of lost brothers and sisters of the pack.

Never is it that the wolf runs
     for the the wind parts
as he moves,
     teasing the coarse fur
while he stretches out his neck
to catch the scent that draws him forward.

One note,
   One word,
      One verse,
          One song.
One is not enough.....
except to create the drive for more.
