Once Had a Handicap
Once Had a Handicap
Thumb I did see looked like a thimble;
Should this become my writing symbol?
Every time when poetry I went to write
Could not hold whole hand real tight.
Deformed thumb by God had been made;
For writing want an improvement grade
And God to me many times He had said,
You will have trouble buttering your bread.
That thimble of mine does get in my way
God said I should say prayers each day
He will hold my thumb so it won't tremble
And would take off my troubling thimble.
Thumb grew large when it was warm
God finally had fixed my thumb's form;
With thumb and fingers poems can write
Now that I can hold my hand real tight.

Wrote this when I first joined Poetry Soup.
Reminds me of Trump making fund of a
handicapped reporter.
