On This Lover's Day

he strung his heart upon a cloud
for all the world to see
he stole my heart, broke it twice
then gave it back to me

all these pieces raining down
gathered on the lawn
sit along a lonely path
on this misty dawn

my eyes now cry
in crimson hues
my heart it sings
of somber blues

and on this night
my favorite day
my words now know
not what to say

for silence speaks
then echoes back
as this day fades
against the black

(I am fine... just musing)

Sandra, I think this would make a good Country song - do you play guitar? I love the color contrast of crimson hues / somber blues. A lovely, mournful, sad write. I know your muse takes you that direction often, but nice to know you're doing fine - well done. Hugs ~ John

Sandra, That is some fine musing on such a lover's day. Bittersweet for the heart that bears an unrequited passion. But I always preferred one bright candle to the glaring of the Sun. -Richard

Your 'just musing' has resulted in a real big FAVE for me, Sandra. Wow! I really like this one. Keep on musing, as they say. Warm wishes from cold Chicago! :) gw

lol...my muse loves her sad writes....I am sure some really hate this day and can't wait for it to be gone... it was always one of my favorite holidays but many others hated it... it doesn't effect me either way anymore, just another day... hugs

Sadly for many, they can't wait for the day to be over. I entered a poem my only valentine in Brians contest N, to try and show the darker side of valentines day. Hope you had a lovely day Tom

The worst nightmare for the heart is when it expects the best to happen but the worst prevails! Very powerful writing! Fortunately here it represents a fictitious situation but alas so many times is true dearest, Sandra! Hugs xxx

Thank you Gordon....I don't know why it decided to fall in rhyme but that's just my muse sometimes.... hugs

Also glad you noted that it wasn't about you, at least not in the present as it seemed to me drawn from past truth. Well done.

Thank you so much Connie...it was very cloudy here and as I was driving the clouds kept looking like hearts as they rolled by...I couldn't take pictures while driving but my muse started singing that first line, the rest just kind of came... Happy Valentine's Day to you XoXo
