On the Way Down

In darkness whispers kept talking to me
And whispers echoed around in my mind
A growling roar that once was far behind
In the realms of a childhood fantasy
Those days before my soul walked strong and free
When the future dreams were not mine to find
My heart was lost, afraid and running blind
Afraid of living my life, to be me
Until destiny came and called me out
Ignored whispers began to scream and shout
The dawning rays of a different day
For all things must change from the days of old
To face the future a man must be bold
And listen to what whispers really say
