Notes About The Poem

Pip

On Sunny Days

For Pippi, my fifteen year old Chihuahua

On sunny days it’s okay to spend
Ten minutes outside the front door
While my old dog finds the perfect spot
     to pee and poop,
But on rainy days he insists indoors
Is where he wants to be,
And in his second puppyhood
The puppy pads are nice enough,
And I am fine with that
Because I don’t like rain either!

I know how he feels...don't blame him. Puppy pads, like diapers, work fine. And we don't discard loved ones due to an occasional accident. The expression of love is more important than anything else in life. Lovely, sensitive poetry.

Thank you. I actually have four elder dogs. They keep company.

Thank you. Pippi is a sweetie, but is a typical chihuahua.
