On My Own

When my longing and desires burn like a wild fire in the night,
raging out of control, torching my mind and scorching my soul
images dancing through shadows flowing into the flames glowing light,
calling me into a dream, i can not resist, i have no will to fight, how can i let go,
i reach for her before she flies away like embers slowly drifting from sight,
as she becomes only a memory in the stillness of my lonely plight
once again forsaken left with the pain of my emptiness and it’s stinging bite
how can i continue on with a heart thats been broken into pieces i’ll never find,
left with only memories that come in the night, haunting my mind,
living in a life that’s been abandoned sadly lost and left far behind,
a soft gentle touch costing so much, tender mercies once gifted, forever declined......
