On My Birth Day

On My Birthday!

                              My Birthday dawned.
                               I got morning calls.
                                  All wished best
                                He did not call.
                                Party is arranged.
                             All well -wishers came.
                                I waited in vain.
                               He did not turn up.
.                              Posies greeted me.
                                 Gifts also obliged
                             Downy noon faded. 
                             Drooping eve shadowed.
                                 He didn’t turn up.
                               Forlorn night darkened.
                                 He didn’t show up.
                                  I retired in bed.
                               Sweet dream imagined
                                 He must be coming.       
                                   Dream also betrayed.
