On Meditation
On Meditation
What is your secret?
You are so calm, content and cool!
Don't you eat meat,
Eggs, milk and ghee?
Or you bath every morning in Zanskar-River!
Let you teach me to meditate, o dear monk
Sitting there on the windy mountain!
I shall teach you Darood and Wazeef.
And you know what...!
Then we shall be flying high and free as geese
Over the valleys and woods:
(Unlike angels who need wings)
On a prayer-mat, riding a lion, a horse,
Or seated in a chariot;
Anytime, anywhere we wish!
Such as, perching in the northern gloomy woods,
Are centuries-old glaciers and freezing cold.
