#1 My grandfather’s old wooden chair stills sits on the porch facing the land he cherished. Twilight time will soon come. Grandpa’s time is already done.

Andrea, I was listening to a piece on NPR about air conditioning. We (collectively) used to sit on porches waiting for our homes to cool in the evening. After air conditioning became ubiquitous, people retreated inside and didn't talk to each other or interact as much. Kinda sad really. Now we have internet and phone friends and our neighbors seem more unknown to us. I spend more time outside than most. Those of us who do understand and see what has happened.

Heartwarming! Still in use, still in view though unoccupied, still twilight fills the rocker. Love it, Andrea!

I thought the same thing about that chair. How it reeks of good memories and wishes now sitting empty. I love the imagery. Best wishes for the contest. Cheers, dear Andrea.
