On Children Today
What’s happening in this world?
I recall a sweeter time
when small girls with jump ropes twirled.
On jungle gyms, little boys would climb.
Now kids are at home alone.
Though some still might go outside,
many just sit with their phone.
They need to roam free, wild and wide-eyed.
They need to breathe outdoors air
and take a bike for a spin
to feel the wind in their hair.
With video games now they stay in.
Parents today who are wise
inspire their kids to create
and their fancy to prize
in play! This should be all children’s fate.
