Old Timer
You never go unnoticed
You choose to be different
And carry it with humble pride
You dare to take the stares
As you idly walk the streets
Where you don’t seem to fit in
Like a character
Out of its time
Out of its place
You stand out
And make us normal people
Stop and stare and
Maybe some of us stop to think
Every once in a while
I will think back and see
Your eyes, your look
To me you’re a question mark
About society’s value system
And the price we put on
A smile, a touch, a kind word
A hug, a chat
I saw you again today
After so many years
Just a few yards away
But I didn’t have the time
To say hello and ask how you’d been
I never have the time
To stop and listen
