Old Shep and Me

Old shep and me, while growing up, that's the way it was. For this dog was my best friend I ever had, wherever I went he was sure to go. Waited for me at the drug store and the movie theater week after week. He was one I could talk with hour after hour, troubles were poured over to him, he would not take his eyes off me until I was through, then as tears flowed down my face his long dark tongue would wipe them away, which would give me a smile. Bike riding always found shep along side of me where- ever I went. Shep's home was under the porch and that's where I could always find him. After nine beautiful years, by my side this pal of mine left this world, which broke my heart will never forget this unforgettable dog, until the day I also leave this world. wrote 8-27-08 Had shep from 1951 to 1960 He lived from 1946- 1960 I was only three years older than he was.

So sad when they have to leave. A moving and beautiful tribute. Love, Shar

This reminds me of the song Elvis had sung in his first talent contest about "if dogs have a heaven there's one thing I know ole Shep has a wonderful home". Great emotion and flow to the read. MIchael

Oh my, you have me crying with this amazingly beautiful, heartfelt poem...I sure know that love, my Eugene would never let me out of his sight either, always eyes on only me, he was my shadow and very best friend...he always knew when I was sad, and also licked my tears until I felt better about everything...that love is eternal, I know we will see them again one day...for now, they live in hearts. Well done, love Kristin

What would we do without our beloved pets. We had dalmations when I was young...since I've been married, we have had Golden Retrievers and labs. They are treasures!
