Old Red

                        Oldest possession, I hold dear
                                
                        Loved since I was just a year...

                        Doggy mine, always kept near

 
                        Red fur rubbed bare, from baby's care

                        Endless loving gaze, his gentle brown eyes stare

                        Deepen lullaby dreams, a young childhood fair.

Valsa George February 19, 2023 at 7:07 PM Very cute one BJ. I can so well relate. I had a doll, not perfect like the barbie dolls. It was a plastic doll of cheaper stuff. Still I held it so close to my heart even in my sleep and made small dress for it. Your poem, beautifully rhyming is a delight to read expressing a child's fondness for a doggie doll. I didn't have a real Barbie Doll either, I remember the others, and they were sweet :) I'm glad you like my poem, this sweet lifelong treasure is really dear to my heart. I have many children and grandchildren, and I am so blessed when a toy they receive becomes one of those cherished treasures to them. I simply loved the stuffin' out of my dog, my mother had to sew him up numerous times. Even the thread she repaired my dog with is beyond precious to me. A treasure filled with memories. <3
