Old Man

Old man he lived over there in a house of dreams alone every day he fetched his mail I woke when he died Now I stare at the window where a little boy watches me fetch my mail alone

Dropping back with my congrats on a very well deserved POTW. I love this poignant poem even more because of CayCay's comment about my poems making her smile and that means the world to me. I may not be to everyone's cup of tea but we do need more laughter in our lives :-) hugs Jan xx

The sparsity of your words amplifies the loneliness of the imagery. An excellent poem, Arthur.

Oh, gosh - the bittersweet seasonal chills you just gave me pushed those I already possess leaving me in time's cloudy sadness. If not for your talent, I wouldn't have to go find one of Jan's limericks to cheer me up! You got me - and that's what poems are for, yes, you scored. Poetry hugs ... CayCay
