Old Friends
As the mirror reveals each new line
and every gray the years bring on,
I remember the promises.
We said our farewells,
with every intention of keeping in touch.
But the calls, like the distance between us,
grew farther apart.
As we drifted into our new lives,
I could never fill the void
of those I had left behind.
As I now near the twilight of my existence
I desperately attempt to recapture memories lost.
But just like my youth,
these too seem to fade.
I yearn to revisit those times once more,
for a gathering of those who have passed,
to be once again,
with Old Friends.
