Old Friend
Empathetic nostalgia’s kicking in,
As I recall all of the times
We ever made each other feel better.
Touching reassurance is what I feel
As I remember the moments
In which we kept it real.
Envious longing stirred within,
As I realized just how much time
You ever spent with that person.
All of this, which you had little ever known,
Has been consuming me,
Especially when I feel so alone.
Relief found through endearing conversations,
Is all I need to ever feel for you again.
Isn’t that right, old friend…?
