Oh Superman

Hey you up there!
Flying around in your underwear
I know you’re busy
Saving the world and stuff
but I gotta tell ya
It ain’t enough.
Yes, you can jump buildings
In a single bound
But we really need you
Here on the ground.
Just look around, man.
I don’t understand
How you came to be
But defying gravity
Is not something most folks can do
And unlike you
We can’t stop a bullet
With a mullet and a Mountain Dew.
So you might as well come on down
And help us move some **** around
Cause we got a lot of work to do
And we could use a guy like you.
Or two.

Nice, Rob, Welcome to Poetry soup, I hope you enjoy the community. Here, you will find friendly poets who enjoy supporting one another. I myself, enjoy reading and commenting those who want to be read. The only time I give constructive criticism is when a poet desires it. However, if for some reason the poem is not my field I will guide you to someone who is more qualified than I. Stop by and read one of my poems if you like. My poems are not perfect, but I have a feeling you might like one. I encourage you to check out the contest page and read to receive comments. Tell me a little about your poetic skills if you like. It will be my pleasure to follow and read every poem you post from here on :) We are Lucky To Have you. Your New Poet Friend @-> LINDA <-@

Thanks for the warm welcome, Linda. I would welcome any suggestions you may have about what style of poetry to categorize my poems, since I know next to nothing about this subject. I've been writing poetry for as long as I can remember. I usually go years without a single word, then get a flash flood of creativity and pop out several poems in a few days. Then dry again for years... Go figure. One characteristic of my writing that I think distinguishes my style is a blend of masculine and feminine voice. As a gay man, I feel I go back and forth between the two and I like to let that bleed into my writing.

I like the coincidence, Rob, Welcome to Poetry Soup. It will be a delight to read and become familiar with your poems in the future. As for now, I will greet you with the same smile others passed when I first joined the soup. Wishing you and your poetry the best. I hope you get to meet all the nice poets around here STARTING with me- SKAT :) Drop a hello and tell me a little about yourself if you wish. Thanks for the welcome, SKAT. I've written poetry all my life, although I still consider myself a novice. I'm a gay man who lives in Portland, Oregon. I found this site so I'm uploading a bunch of my work over the years. I hope it is well received.
