Oh Kay
That breathy murmured OK I use
a lot? You know the one: OH, upscale note
followed by KAY, deeply resigned, as
in "task identified, job accepted,"
but embraced? I don't Think So...
And, then, as I passed a bedroom door,
Brussels, 1998, my brother, (lost to Alzheimer's
in two years time), I saw him rise from bed
with the same OH KAY addressed to no
one. Assisted living, that OH KAY.
In Tibet, there is a saying, "For every
valley, a different dialect."
But this OK is universal language,
the possibilities galactic.
