Oh, Go Away Yesterday

Oh, Go Away Yesterday

It’s been long over between us two,
yet my emotions ignite when I think of you;
and my aura fades to dullest blue.
                    Oh, go away yesterday!

But you’ve been a jaybird happy and carefree,
ever since the day you had forsaken me,
scratching off our names from the old oak tree.
                    Oh, go away yesterday!

Even though my aching heart is one big mess,
loving memories of you still leave me breathless,
recalling pure ecstasy when I was your “goddess.”
                    Oh, go away yesterday!

Once I believed we had a shared destiny,
and our  love would last for all eternity;
but now I know that was sheer insanity.
                    Oh, go away yesterday!

A sad commentary for a guy who would cause a shining jewel to lose its luster. On the bright side, gems can be polished and shine again. You will be sparkling soon because you are a winner.

What a wonderful combination, your Names (Pandita the Lady Priestess, and Sanchez, the New, the Creole of Spain & Americas). Yes, the comments note the precious sadness ... let me NOT miss the strength, the resilience, that the dying woman's heart is the womb of rebirth/ amen (and Shalom, shalom)

Hi Pandita, really enjoyed reading this poem of yours, you have written it really nicely and full of emotions,somebody on poetrysoup (don t remember who he/she was) told me that the past is dead but the future can be bright, what s gone is gone, it s not going to return, but the future can be changed, so don t let your past destroy your future,good luck for the contest

Well done, but it might cheer you up to judge a contest along the line of the old French parable:, "Two tears were floating down the Seine. Cried one, "I am the tear of a girl who lost her lover!" Sobbed the other, "I am the tear of the girl who found him!" Aloha! Rico
