Offended Thinker
If you appear before me with no claim why
Clamoring as much as to catch my eye
Know that you make the offense gross
When I ponder the minutes’ worth of loss
That I would have used on a thought or a stare
On something worth the time and flare
That I would both savor and remember
From January to December
But you chose to draw my attention
On nothing worth the mention
I was thinking of the past and future
And whether the present is its mixture
I was thinking of love and hate
And their role in destiny and fate
I was thinking of thoughts in and of themselves
The endless world in which every mind delves
Now I am forced to think of your interruption
And calculate how much is lost in distraction
For I must confess suffering my fair share
But now this lament I will not spare
I am not against anyone who may interject
For from it I’ve gained and that I respect
Worthwhile thoughts beyond my own
Have by others thought and to me made known
And to anyone that would be gain
But I lament of the moments slain
Gone for no rhyme or reason
Oh that these moments were only in prison
That I would bail them and set them free
But I know God is always gracious to me
