Notes About The Poem
 and

Of Water and Earth

He’s water, my opposite; I’m solid

earth. He cries a river more than I,

wetting my ground with his tears. We

might become a swamp and sink

in our own mire. . . Or we

can mold ourselves like

clay, and in so

doing, be

something

grand.

(One of my unposted oldies from 2007)
NOTE: I am Virgo/with Moon in Taurus (Earth Signs). Joe is Cancer
with Moon in Scorpio (a complete water baby). I always knew we were
complete opposites, but when I learned about our Zodiac readings, I thought
 "This is ridiculous!!!"

Just catching up on some things I missed. I enjoy all of your poems Andrea. it's such a great outlet. May God continue to strengthen your clay so as to one day stand among the strongest of stone. God Bless.

Reminds me of what the late Rodney Dangerfield said in the movie "Back to School". He said, "She was a water sign, I was an earth sign. Together, we made mud." Good write as usual, Andrea.

I read this as a personification but see is more of a metaphor. Well done.

Well then you compliment each other in ways that only opposites can. I'm a capricorn?..I guess. Of course, nature intended for be to be...whatever the next one is, but my mom drank castor oil to get my big butt outta there...haha

Love it! So positive in the notion that love prevails when we decide to accept differences and absorb them.

God puts opposites together to learn from each other and to help build up that person where there is weakness..We are suppose to do that in a very loving and supportive way which is very hard for most couples..Enjoyed reading your work about the signs and what they mean to you in your relationship...Thanks for all the visits ..I have no idea why the Red Cardinal male was shewing all the other birds off which it seemed to me he was doing just so that Nuthatcher could eat..Sara

Maybe he was shooing them off so he could eat and the Nuthatcher found just the right moment to fly in ther and get that one seed to eat...You know they get one seed go to a tree and get it out of its shell and then eat the inside..Sara

Hey i remember that time when we were into those zodiacs... I like how you did this one and put in the option of turning it around and mold yourselves as clay. That must be kinda freaky, finding about your zodiacs, freaky yet cool. Beautiful optimism there in the last part...it's been so long since i last read an etheree... So happy to read this, sweetie. Owe you a bunch of email, have a full day ahead, hopefully nxt week!

This is so nicely done, and with the syllable count. The chemistry between water and earth must touch all facets(faucets?) of life.

Hi Andrea, I really like this one. You show perfectly how two separate things such as water and earth could not be any farther apart than they are. But when you mix them together and they become one. You create something totally new. I loved it....Hugs....Roger

This poem is intriguing since you work in astrological information. Is it "concrete poetry. I think that "concrete" poetry is the same as "shape" poetry. The question is does the shape have to be of something recognizable. Keep it up! Peace & Love Matthew Anish

Opposites attract, the polar opposites will always attract to one another leaving a magnetic field in its presence...thus you two have this attraction and can form into whatever you choose to be! I really loved this incredible poem here my friend! This is a very well designed and thought out Etheree Andrea! What a grand piece, Great Work!!
