Of the Eagle

Once the beacon of this shimmering domain,
What have they done to you grand Eagle?

Abandoned, the spirit Eagle, unteathered, searching
"Sea to shining Sea" as a light, a design of its creator.
The oppressors, with shameful deception speaks no truth
to spare this illustrious symbol of liberty.

The once Seated Bull, once great, once a nation known,
Witness to the oppressors contempt. Yet fell prey
To a promise spoken. We know now!

Oh; "woe is me" ! No longer written for jesters court, now
Entangled as in a shakespearean drama. The deception turns
Toward "We the People".

Hail oh great and illustrious Eagle.
Pluck out the eyes of the imposter.
Return us to sanity, to justice, to liberty and happiness.

Rise with abounding strength above mankind.
You were born to restore, refresh and redeem the sons of liberty.

I guess im just too old to buy into the moaning about how bad a country we are. The eagle, is a symbol that our leadership has abandoned. A ?? seems more appropriate. Character and morals seems to be languishing. The eagle represents both and is being dismantled. Hopefully, I didn't spark resentment. The word you used, " "interesting", suggests that you are wondering. Please clarify if you will. I am always wanting feedback. It deepens my understanding. Thank you for reaching out and I appreciate more dialog. Z

The wings of freedom, once revered, have now been severed, our futures levered, by pompous pomp and circumstances! No longer endeared, as "Liberty" feared! Defend and mend "Her" broken feather from "His" fowl weather!
