I found this; John Steinbeck would read the words of rival writers to friends' just so they could deride and laugh at them. Another; Ernest Hemingway would hit rival writer Sherwood Anderson over the head with a cane, just to give the shy man a hard time...They say writers are mostly thin-skinned backstabbers. Interesting! Just a FUN FACT

Thought it was funny, I really don't believe that. :)

I wouldn’t read too much into whatever it is you’re getting at Anaya, I certainly don’t, I’m sure though a lot of banter goes on between writers, and as far as I’m concerned it’s only banter, cheers David

The most famous line ~One day we'll live off the fat of the land, Lenny. In the Americanized words of Robert Burns, the best laid plans of mice and men often go awry, where Steinbeck got the title! Well expressed. Robert

Thanks Robert, (the fatta' the lan), as Lennie would say, I’m thinking George had a plan, probably knowing deep down it was also a dream, still we all need a little hope to get through life’s toughest times, cheers David

I absolutely loved the movie. Sadly I hear it may be one of books banned by the woke folks

A classic tale of freindship and compassion. I found this quote: Just like heaven. Ever’body wants a little piece of Ian’. I read plenty of books out here. Nobody never gets to heaven, and nobody gets no land. It’s just in their head. They’re all the time talkin’ about it, but it’s jus’ in their head—John Steinbeck, Of Mice and Men

Very sad, yeah we were only talking about her a short time ago, she had a very tragic troubled life!

Hear the news of Sinead O'Conner? Sad, to think we were just discussing her.

Ain’t that the truth Anaya, great quote from the book, not hard to believe it was banned here in Ireland for profanity, along with anything else the RC church thought might open peoples eyes, A brilliant read I loved it, cheers David
