Of Jagged Pieces
I will turn back the pages
all the tattered pages of my life
yellowed and brittle and wet with tears
oh, a sweetness comes amid the dregs of sorrows
and brings a hush
and I find myself weeping an ocean of moments
as the drum of time rolls and rolls and rolls endlessly
I had found true love, oh he was my everything
we had so many dreams for our future
we laughed and drank from the deep blue cup of sky
but, in the book of life his destiny was written
and what is written will be
and he became a name engraved in cold stone
and life became a lake of silence without imagination
and my heart was shattered in a thousand pieces
I travelled a road of resentment until I found acceptance
and I discovered a strength dwelling within me
so, I picked up every shattered piece of my heart
with courage and serenity and tranquility
and glued all the pieces back together
knowing my heart will forever be a scarred puzzle
of jagged pieces
