Cotton fields White to harvest Untouched by red clay Trash, sediment Banked white snow Fluffy Not visited By neighborhood dogs Right out of the pack The scent of clean, Soft cotton Dry and warm Slip one on, then two Encapsulate the feet Like clean silver fog Coats each tree Ten hours later There's dirt, stink Old shoe leather stains Then tossed into hamper No longer new No longer clean No longer white Just dirty old socks

Sara hello, white socks are hard to keep clean. Wear them once and they need a wash. Have a nice evening my friend.

Brilliant ode Sara, any color but white, only black for me, eliminates odd sock syndrome lol, well written. :))

What an honest ode; I have never tried one, but I truly like the rhythm in it, and think one day I might try an ode. It's amazing to me too how soon we lose one and it's usually the ones that are the least stained that disappear into the magic washer cave never to return.

You might as well buy grey because after a couple of washes they will be lol. Tom

Tom, I wish gray was the only color that is on there after a few washings. I have to get white so I can use bleach because of athletes' foot fungus. Colored socks would be a solution for sure. Thanks for dropping by. Sara

Jan, Got that one correct. Thanks for dropping by. With my grandson the stinky feet are horrible. Sara
