Odd Od Dodo

Idyllically Odylically Odd I Be Such is my nature It is who I be In an unnatural world Flapping upstream I am ruled by the Ods Not this man made dream Not a slave to the sway of society Long labelled weird but "in a nice way" I am apparently odd And so odd I will stay As I find more in common With birds and trees anyway For like feathers and leaves I am Swayed by the breeze Roots in the earth Love of nature my wings Beauty surrounds me I live it every day Yes idyllic And odd Like a Dodo I be Being an Od bird is okay with me (even if that means going extinct) 17.05.12 Composed for Broken Wings' Form O-Only One Contest

Enjoying your poems Maureen. I used to write in this type of visual style. Though I have changed I still enjoy seeing these kinds of poems, and of course reading them. Like looking at a painting, when far away, you see the shape. The control of the canvas and a balanced composition. Then when getting closer, close enough to read, you receive the double enjoyment of the composition of the words. Thanks Maureen

My shape poems are long forgotten. I was even trying to write cubistically. I really only remembering one that worked.

I do treat the screen like a page like a canvas, to the point of distraction ;) I hope you consider posting some of your shape poetry.

I love everything about this write Maureen. It has been the highlight of my night. 10 out 7. Especially these lines in particular. Not a slave to the sway of society Long labelled weird but in a nice way I am apparently odd AND SO ODD I WILL STAY. Brilliant Love this piece so glad I clicked on your best poems. Personally I thinks its odd to want to be a Sheep rather than a Shepherd.

Full marks for shape and content, Maureen!! I love your bird in graceful flight. In some ways each one of us resembles a dodo, and one day, when we pass away, there is no running away from extinction! Regards // paul

Your words are well chosen and convey a meaning that flows smoothly into the next line of thought. A stunning and eloquent way to acknowledge the Dodo bird and its absence from earth’s evolutionary ladder. Emile.

Yes! Awesome poem, awesome shape. Odd enough to be believable, somehow, if you know what I mean. Puts me in the mood to drink sangria for some reason.

The Dodo became extinct because it was the most delicious bird on the island, but no flight (fancy nor otherwise) could free it from its popularity! Too late you have given it wings! Aloha! Rico

The palindrome in the title had me hooked, but I knew there would be delectable offerings in the poem and indeed, what a poem! Maureen, this energizing dodo that shakes us up and is not afraid to march to the beat of her own drum is a favorite of mine:) Amitiés

This was so cool Maureen. Even scattered in a creative pattern about the page, it still reads smoothly and melodically. I believe most of us poetic types are odd birds, but we are birds of a feather flocking together. Now about that extinct part. :)
