There is a state devoid of conscious thought
where one is not pressed for their opinion.
The difficulty is it is not safe
to allow others to do one's thinking.
Those touting the state of oblivion,
are attracted by its anonymity.
And none the wiser, they become shadows,
in a place where only shadows exist.
Choosing not to get involved, they escape,
to where reason becomes irrelevant.
And free of life's responsibilities,
they ignore truths and their consequences.
Oblivion offers a false escape,
like an ostrich with its head in the sand.
And ignorance is never an excuse
to detach yourself from reality.
