O to grouse in a glass house

Much of what US Envoy said, Had he been wise, would not have said, For, boomerang-like back such words do head. When it comes to ‘murder for hire’, No nation than US scores higher. It backs Canada’s claims at once Based merely on ‘intelligence’ Not at all on hard evidence. He even talked of (what pity!) India’s accountability, It’s like devil quoting scriptures, And (holy grail), passing strictures! When it comes to cloak and dagger business-- Out in public domain (though they’d never confess), The world knows with much amusement Of its dirty tricks department That has shown more dagger than cloak, (Such was in action a CIA bloke) In dealing with targets world over, And Fidel Castro, Cuban leader. Too well known and blown in error Be CIA’s comedy of terror. A cigar poisoned with a toxin That when lit, off would blow within, A fungi-infested scuba suit, Or poisoned conch shell under his foot, But why, oh why those that reside In glass houses, fail to abide By some common sense as discretion goes, I know not, nor know if heaven knows! But Castro died by natural causes at ninety, And CIA lives sans accountability. ______________________________ Happenings |26.10.2024| USA, satire Poet’s note: We know of a cat that after killing scores of mice decides to go for a pilgrimage in penitence. The difference is that this US cat neither goes for pilgrimage nor is in penitence. World knows of their project codenamed Executive Action spanning eight US presidencies when CIA made no fewer than 638 bungled attempts to terminate the Cuban leader. The irony is: they still do not miss any opportunity to pontificate the world on what others should do. This piece wonders if they (living in a glass house) should throw any stones at others.
