O, lovely seagull
In English and Hindi
O, lovely seagull,
O dear seagull,
You come flying from faraway skies,
Be it rivers or oceans,
You all come and spread,
Walking along with the boat,
If someone keeps feeding you
Your favorite food,
With such agile grace,
You pick up from the waves,
Every grain thrown to you. 01
Hindi version
o pyare sigal,
door gagan se ud kar tum aate,
nadiyan hon ki ho koi sagar,
tum sab aakar ho chha jate,
sath-sath chalte nauka ke,
agar koi tumhe khilata jay,
tumhare man pasand ka khana,
kitni chapal sundarta se,
le jaate ho laharon par se been kar,
tumko fenka har ek dana. 01
English
Oh, dear seagull,
When you fly alongside,
Displaying all your aerial acrobatics
Alongside my moving boat,
And sometimes, upon the waves,
Begin to perform your dance—
Why is it that we all
Fill with such joy,
Smiling the moment we see you?
It is as if you are teaching us all,
the tricks of life to be happy. 02
Hindi version
o pyare sigal,
sath-sath jab tum bhi u?ate,
meri chalti naav ke saath dikhate,
apne udne ke sab kartab,
aur kabhi pani ki laharon par,
karne lagte apna nritya,
kyon hum sab tab,
khushi se hain bhar jate,
tumhen dekhte hi muskate,
manon sikha rahe tum hum sab ko,
khus rahane ke jeevan kartab. 02
