O Earth I Have Come

O earth! I have come To rest my bones To bow, to humble my flesh I have come to sleep Without breath nor dreams O earth! I have come Take what is yours Perish my precious meat Eat to your belly big Consume my bones to dust Lay waste my body Rubbish this cloth to rags O earth! I have come Take what is yours and I will take what's mine Have the flesh you fed Wither the beauty you bred But let be my soul Chain the bones you grew But let loose your hands Nor holds upon my soul No grave nor hell Nor powers known Can damn this man to death My soul, the man inside Immortality's own son A ghost of eternity The trumpet must call and this man will rise To feats with gods To live forever In a heavenly home Where saints dwells
