Nutmeg's Plea - Extended Disco Version

Little nutmeg will now recite her poem...

I sit quietly on your spice shelf,
You notice the others, never myself,
a humble tin of ground nutmeg.
Please hear me. I don't wish to beg.
I wait here, nightly, wide awake -
please put me in your pie or cake.

Thank you, Ms. Nutmeg. Uhoh, it looks like she's doing an encore...

Please put me in your cake or pie.
If you don't, then I should die,
longing to be gently sprinkled
by your loving hands, so wrinkled,
into a pudding made of rice.
Don't you think that would be nice?

Yep, it turns out she's really a ham. I kind of obsessively crank out whatever nonsense comes to mind.

And yet Nutty nutmeg can be dangerous in large amounts. I read this after I liberally sprinkled it on yogurt, but before I ate too much! Don’t assume, look it up! Hugs

Haha, I did look it up after reading Sara's comment. No wonder I'm on a nutmeg spree! Seriously, I calculated how much I ingested in my recent pasta dishes, and in other things, and it looks like I'm below the amount where it starts to be dangerous or even to have psychoactive effects. It sure tastes good though.

David, I really enjoyed this one. I got a little chuckle out of it. My mother when I was around 10 years old bought some whole nutmeg and would chew on it for something that was wrong with her. I don't remember what that was a home remedy for because I have not thought about it in years. Thank you for sharing this one with us. I really like the artwork as well. I looked it up and it is good for a large number of ills. Heartburn is one and she was having acid problems. Sara K

I was thinking about nutmeg, because I rarely use, but I remember my mom using it in pastries, cakes, rice pudding and eggnog. I recently started adding it along with cinnamon to apple pie. About a week ago I tried a vegetarian recipe for pasta sauce made from ground walnuts, soy milk, and nutmeg. It's pretty good! I'll have to google it, to find out its health benefits. I didn't know anything about that, but I sure like its taste.
